Biography
Winston Chmielinski is a Boston-born artist whose painting explores the figure, colour and dissolving forms. His figurative work moves towards abstraction, with a close attention to the materials of painting and how we perceive an image.
Chmielinski lets bodies and contours dissolve into colour. In an interview with TurningArt, he describes making his own paints and grounds and choosing materials through experimentation rather than fixed formulas.
Man Woman Bird reflects his interest in a painting process that can change as the work develops. Alongside the paintings, a studio interview explores his approach to inspiration, materials and the place of art in everyday life.
Winston created the cover artwork for Barbarisms’ self-titled debut album.
